AX Planning: To Video Blog or Not to Video Blog

Lately I’ve been wondering whether to add video blogging to the site. AX is coming up in a few months and I’ve considered bringing a camera with me to show you guys some highlights. The only real problem with  this is that I have a tendency to edit videos so it would take a while before I actually posted it up; which seems counter-productive.

To give you guys an idea of what I mean, here’s a student film me and the guys made for Campus Movie Fest; it’ less than 5 min but took a whole week to shoot and edit, plus we barely got an honorable mention for our campus. If you guys get curious our school’s Cal Poly Pomona located in the California LA area for 2008.

Well getting back to AX if they’re any specifics you want us to cover let us know so we can add it to our list (if we can, there are stuff we ourselves want to prioritize); I for one will definately want to cover the BlazBlue/Guilty Gear panel, it’s been long over due. FYI for those also attending AX and attending the panel, you preordered your copy of BlazBlue right? I believe it comes with an artbook; which I plan to get signed if I can *crossing my fingers*. In any case, if there’s any AX coverage you want just ask; and vote on the poll to the right there if we should add video blogging to the site.

Street Fighter Art Exhibit Recap

Hey one and all, over the weekend I attended Street Fighter art exhibit Jab Strong Fierce; It was pretty packed there. There were a lot of people and there was a tournament; there were too many people there for me to get a good look at the tournament, and too many coming in for me to stay too long.  So I took a few pictures of some noteworthy Street Fighter art, so take a look and be amused at some of these fan works.

Even was being held at Nucleus in Alhambra

Circus Watch: Is Circus gonna be at AX this year?

This is the scene that starts off Da Capo in my mind

This is the scene that starts off Da Capo in my mind

As some of you may know; a long while ago Broccoli Books left the US market. This is a loss for a lot of us, but there’s another effect this has. As some of you are aware, in past years at AX Circus has made  appearances to mingle with fans. During these times Circus was sharing a booth with Broccoli; which makes sense as the two companies have worked together (i.e. True Tears game) in the past. However, since Broccoli has dropped out of the American market does that mean that Circus won’t be coming to AX this year? That’s a tricky question, I’ve checked AX’s exhibitor’s list and Broccoli nor Circus is listed. But I checked Comic-con’s exhibitor’s list and I found that Broccoli Books is sharing a booth with Aurora Publishing. It could be a typo, or it could be that Broccoli still exists in some small form as a convention retail store. I’m hoping against hope though that it means that Circus will still come to AX this year; the reason being that since their last visit, their game Da Capo has been released to English speaking markets via mangagamer. As some of you may recall my rant; Circus was discussing the possibilities of limited edition sets for their games and such coming to the US market. Though that is pending on how the success of their games selling in English markets goes. It certainly makes sense from a business standpoint, and I wanted to hear from them (now that their game is selling in English markets) if they’re selling well enough to consider offering some of those extra merchandises to us English speakers. If I find any information on whether Circus will be at AX I’ll post it up; if anyone knows anything, then by all mean please let us know ( or let me know and I’ll let everyone else know).

Anime Figurine/USB Drives: Why do I want one so much!?!?!

Fresh off of last week’s spend-thrifting, I get an e-mail from J-list with this particular item of note:

It's a Rei Ayanami USB Drive!

It's a Rei Ayanami USB Drive!

See?

See?

And check out that packaging!

And check out that packaging!

At $48.00 plus shipping it’s ok to want one right!? Nay, get one? I mean look at! to boot, there’s (or there was) a Konata one. However, I regret to inform that it’s no longer there; at least I can’t find it. Still I am being tempted by this USB flash drive that I’ll most likely end up putting on a pedestal; which might be appropriate had I any intention or ability to store top-secret-sector-dogma-hush-hush stuff on it. Gimme your opinions! Needless spending? or any anime fan’s obligation?
