It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but a lot of things have come up for me. I’ve been busy looking for a new job as I got laid off last month, I’ve been applying for unemployment, I’ve been finishing off the last few classes I need to graduate, I’ve been doing some inking for an inking class I’m taking, and I’m coming up with story ideas for M.I.C.C competition. I’m pretty busy, but I’m still working on the site. It’s just I got a lot of little posts partway done. I’m busy on going over Bakemonogatari 13, I’m looking at Seitokai no Ichizon, some updates from some Comptiq and Dengeki Gs magazines, I’ll post up stuff whenever I can; though from now to mid December, it’s gonna be inconsistent. On a seperate note, I’d like to say “Hayate no Gotoku manga: Wow, lots of stuff going on there. It kinda feels like we’re switching from a heartfelt romance to an epic fantasy story. I mean it’s throwing us for a loop here.

Site Update
Just a few days ago, Animelo Summer 2009 featured Hatsune Miku as a guest singer.
I just found out I have a Final this Saturday, and a follow-up on Monday. This means I’ll put up the usual posts and some snapshots I took while I was at E3 after Monday as I’m trying to cram in 500 pages + of material into my head. Wish me luck!
Happy Birthday Konata!!!
It’s May 28th, and it also happens to be Konata’s birthday! This past year we’ve seen a few things; the most noteworthy one to me being Street Fighter Guile Cosplay Konata!!! We’ve also seen a few things in figurines such Nendroid Konata, or Figama Konata (one of which I have, and one of which I need). What more can we expect from Konata in the coming year? Personally I’m hoping for some King of Fighters XII cosplay (did someone say Iori-Konta) or maybe even BlazBlu (Ragna-Konata!). I have no idea how old Konata is at this point, but Happy Birthday Konata!!
Finally got that Asuka (Cosplaying as Yoko) model in the mail the other day!!
I’m not usually one for resin figures (because of the cost), but I took one look at this figured and immediately I knew I wanted it! I mean for starters, look at that detail! Then there’s the fact it’s Asuka cosplaying as Yoko! Separately these 2 features warrant a consideration for buying, but together it’s a no-brainer. Wonder if someone will make another figure like this, dare I say Kamina cosplaying as Gendou? or Simon cosplaying as Shinji? Or maybe even Boota cosplaying as Pen Pen!
Lately I’ve been wondering whether to add video blogging to the site. AX is coming up in a few months and I’ve considered bringing a camera with me to show you guys some highlights. The only real problem with this is that I have a tendency to edit videos so it would take a while before I actually posted it up; which seems counter-productive.
To give you guys an idea of what I mean, here’s a student film me and the guys made for Campus Movie Fest; it’ less than 5 min but took a whole week to shoot and edit, plus we barely got an honorable mention for our campus. If you guys get curious our school’s Cal Poly Pomona located in the California LA area for 2008.
Well getting back to AX if they’re any specifics you want us to cover let us know so we can add it to our list (if we can, there are stuff we ourselves want to prioritize); I for one will definately want to cover the BlazBlue/Guilty Gear panel, it’s been long over due. FYI for those also attending AX and attending the panel, you preordered your copy of BlazBlue right? I believe it comes with an artbook; which I plan to get signed if I can *crossing my fingers*. In any case, if there’s any AX coverage you want just ask; and vote on the poll to the right there if we should add video blogging to the site.
Well, for us owners of a PS3 we’ll be getting a nice surprise this spring, as they’re bringing Cross Edge stateside!!! What is Cross Edge you ask? and why should we be excited? Well, let me tell you that Cross Edge is a Smörgåsbord of characters from Capcom, Gust, NIS, Bandai Namco, and Idea Factory. We got some of the Darkstalker girls in there, some characters from Gust’s Ar Tonelico and Mana Khemia series, and heck we even got Etna and some Prinnies in the mix! Man, as I’m sure my fellow PS3 owners ware aware; the PS3 is lacking in a good selection of JRPGs in general, this game will at least add one more title to the repertoire. Now if any of you are still interested in what this game has to offer, check out the site at: http://www.nisamerica.com/games/crossedge/ and did I mention there’ll be DLC for this game? That means a possible increased cast of characters to choose from!
Now, the main thing that brought my attention to this game is the little voting thing they have going here. Basically you’re voting on your favorite costumes; the winning costume will be printed as a Giclee print and the winners (decided by a raffle) will win. Me personally voted for Goth-loli Lilith because, how often am I gonna see that outside of fan doujinshis? Same with bunny-girl Lilith though that one puts ideas in my head. Though personally I like all the costumes because I’m a fetishist like that; though I prefer the term “Cosplay Complex”. Below are some of the costumes on the site to vote on, now get inspired and vote!
This collection is of one of Leaf’s illustrators, Misato Mitsumi who has done character designs on Pia Carrot 1, 2, Comic Party, To Heart 2, and Utawarerumono to name a few. Man, I’ve known about this art book for like half a year; problem was no one online had it. Tried eBay and the guy selling it was selling it for like $90 plus shipping. After a while I remembered my friend telling me about some proxy services in Japan, where basically they buy stuff on your behalf in Japan and ship them to you. So I signed up for the service, sent them a link to the book at Toranoana and they bought it for me and shipped it to me. Overall took a month from when I placed the order to when I got it. Let’s see, the price break down is (and these are estimations because I threw the receipts away): Continue reading ‘1998-2006 Leaf Collections Misato Mitsumi Edition: I finally got my hands on it!!!’

Melon Cream Soda, the "beer" of anime pirates!!! (Would've thought Root Beer, but what do I know...)
Got a little thirsty today so I went to my local Japanese market Nijiya, and what did I see but a Melon Cream Soda with Luffy and the gang!!! Delicious? You bet!!!! I checked up on it, and apparently Sapporo (the manufacturer of the drink) is doing a promotion with One Piece; well obviously, but what does this entail besides cool pictures on drink bottles? Well, you see that little box on the lower right of the bottle that looks like static? Well in Japan you can use your cellphone to decode that little image and you apparently send that decoded image through e-mail and enter for a chance to win…….we’ll I’m stuck at that part since my Japanese is only at such a level, but I think we can all imagine what happens. Anyways, check out the site to see the rest of the bottle designs!!!!
On a side note, I didn’t notice this last week, but I’ve been getting the feeling that new character Emporio Ivankov seems to bear a remarkable resemblance to Tim Curry in his role as Dr. Frank N. Furter in the Rocky Horror Picture Show? Let’s look at the similarities:
Could very well be that Eiichiro Oda based Emporio on Frank N. Furter; I mean, it’s hard to deny the similarity between the two and if you look at a close up of Tim Curry’s face there are moments where his face looks like Emporio’s. Well I’m glad I got that off my chest, it was bothering me for a while where I saw Emporio’s face before and now I remember. If anyone agrees or disagrees with this observation, let me know I curious on other peoples theories regarding this.

A while back me and PJ went in together on a set of 10 To Heart 2 Another Days posters on eBay. It was $14.99 plus $12.00 shipping. Of the original 10 I took the Michiru, Harumi, Marianne-sempai, Ikuno, and Tama-nee/Konomi and PJ took the rest. Wasn’t a bad pick for myself if I say so, though that’s relative I suppose. I wanted to hang them up in my room, but I didn’t want to tape it or use thumbtacks so it just sat in its tube for a while and I forgot about it for a few months. Eventually me and PJ went to a Michaels for some reason after eating out. Saw some poster frames on sale and I remembered the posters. I kinda gambled on the poster size; I could have gotten a lot of small ones, but I felt that I could compile all the posters nicely into one huge frame. Luckily the frame was the right size, and hopeully you all agree that those 5 posters work wonderfully together to form a single powerful poster of nose-bleeds and fan-boy sweat and tears. Well not as extreme, but surely you agree it’s a great composition and solution to the problem of having mulitple small posters around right?
