Summary:

There’s going to be a ball at the academy and Selnia is expressing her anticipation to Akiharu; as usual though, Akiharu takes the opportunity to make another “drill” joke. Even Tomomi joins in on the “drill bashing”, with Selnia arguing that her hairstyle isn’t a drill. This leads to Tomomi telling her it was simply a joke, and comments that Selnia is pretty serious to not see that. At the Servant classroom, the teacher is informing the class of the principal’s idea of having the Servant-class assisting with the ball with the girls dressing as butlers and the boys dressing as maids. Shingo expresses his dissatisfaction at the idea of Akiharu and him dressing in maid uniform; the principal agrees with this as no one would want to see them in girls’ clothes so she tells them that they’ll wear some random costume.

That night, Daichi is writing in his diary and mentions it’s been a few months since he’s come to the academy and how no one has discovered that he’s actually a girl. Daichi continues to reminisce as she recounts how she enrolled at Hakureiryou Academy because of her father’s orders. Apparently Daichi was ordered to graduate as a boy, which would basically mean keeping her identity a secret for 3 years. Daichi thought the task would be easy at first, but then Akiharu came and Daichi’s peaceful life was ruined. The next day Daichi is paired with Akiharu and Sanae in their Home Economics class; their assignment is to create a completed dish. Daichi takes the lead making the dishes since she’s the only one in the group that can cook. Akiharu comments that Daichi’s good enough to be his wife; though Daichi takes the comment seriously and tells Akiharu that he’s a guy. Unfortunately Sanae decides to make the dessert; which results in a huge mess, and Akiharu’s group receiving 0 points and cream all over their clothes.  In the showers Akiharu is complaining to Daichi how it was a little cold of the instructor to give them 0 points even though the food was good. Akiharu looks over at Daichi’s side and Daichi immediately shoots water in his eyes, and runs out the shower room.

The next class is self-dense and the class is practicing Judo, with Daichi and Akiharu paired together. Akiharu is getting pretty beat since Daichi is a dan holder, and Daichi tells him that he won’t hold back on him. Daichi gets distracted by Shingo getting thrown, and Akiharu takes advantage of this and tackles Daichi to the ground. Daichi gets sensitive with Akiharu continuing to mount her, and eventually it becomes too much when Akiharu starts breathing on her ear and Daichi thoroughly beats up Akiharu after yelling at him to stop in a loud girlish voice. Afterwards Akiharu, Shingo, Daichi and Mitsuru are carrying the dresses over to the Upper-class girls for the ball. Selnia is excited about the ball and talks about how all eyes will be on her at the ball. Tomomi notices a loose thread on Selnia’s shoulder and asks Akiharu to remove it for her. Akiharu does so, but unfortunately it causes the top Selnia’s dress to fall and exposes her breasts. Daichi is looking enviously at the girls and remembers when she was a child and a young woman with an ample chest returned her ball to her.

At sunset Daichi, alone in the room, is still looking at the dresses for the ball and picks one of them up. Akiharu comes into room and notices her holding the dress; Daichi assumes that Akiharu discovered her identity as a girl, but it seems that Akiharu thinks Daichi is concerned about dressing up as a maid. Daichi runs out the room while Akiharu complains about the whole cross-dressing issue with a disappointed look on her face. At the ball everyone is a little shy as they’re not used to wearing such clothes, and it seems the costumes Akiharu and Shingo were forced to wear are a Cupid and lion statue respectively. Meanwhile Daichi is alone in the previous room staring at the maid uniform in her hands and thinks to herself that she won’t look as good in a dress as the other girls, and with a depressed face looks at her flat chest. Tomomi comes in and is surprised to see Daichi; Daichi tells her to mind her own business and is about to leave the room. Before Daichi leaves, Tomomi hands her a bra and some breast padding and tells her “he’ll” probably need them and puts lipstick on her.

Back at the ball, Selnia is dancing with a “butler” and it’s almost time for the ball to be over. Daichi comes in her maid uniform, and all eyes are on her as everyone comments how cute she looks. Daichi bumps into Akiharu and he tells her that it suits her. The ball finally ends with Kazamatsuri-senpai chasing Mitsuru with Daichi looking on and smiling brightly. That night Daichi is writing in her diary again and comments that today was disastrous and she’ll probably never forget it, but warmly smiles as she looks at a photo of everyone at the ball in her cell phone. Later Daichi takes a shower comments that she feels she can continue to work hard and today was a good day. On her way out of the shower, she encounters Akiharu while only holding a towel to somewhat cover her lower half. Daichi starts panicking and starts thinking it should be okay if she explains her situation to Akiharu, but Akiharu ignores her and walks into the shower and comments to Daichi how it was an exhausting day. This shocks Daichi, and causes her to look at her chest and weep a little. That night in their room Akiharu comments on how it must be hard for the Upper-class girls to wear those frilly dresses, and tells Daichi how he’s glad they’re boys so they don’t have to deal with that. This leads to Daichi to quietly agree.

Opinions:

Finally, confirmation of what all of us were expecting, Daichi’s a girl! This was obviously a Daichi focus episode and it wasn’t bad, but I would’ve liked it if they filled us in a little more on Daichi’s past. Some of the images from Daichi’s past aren’t really making sense. I mean I’m aware of what’s happening, but I don’t really get how they’re significant other than the fact that the girls in Daichi’s flashbacks are wearing frilly dresses and have a nice rack. That aside, it seems that Akiharu and Daichi’s relationship is slowly starting to build itself and it was really cute when Daichi was disappointed that Akiharu didn’t figure out she was a girl, and the little groan that Rie Kugimiya lets out is so cute; this is why she’s the queen! The moan was so dere dere! I gotta say for a show with this much fanservice, there’s a decent amount of characters and character development in it. Personally, I think the whole series could work better as a bishoujo game; the set-ups already there, and plus we can more deeply go into the backgrounds of each girl. With that said, next episode is focusing on the faux-loli of the show, Mimina and a cosplay acquaintance of her’s apparently.

PS. I’d like to end this post with a obligatory moe-maid-pic of Daichi!!!!

How can you not melt while looking at that? (granted I have a fetish for maids, and am a devoted Rie Kugimiya fan……. but still!!!!)
