Summary:

Right before the race starts, Selnia and Tomomi size each other up. After the race, Akiharu tells Selnia it was shame she didn’t win, and Selnia to replies that the outcome of the athletics competition isn’t the only thing at stake. This gets Selnia to ask Akiharu who she is to him, and Akiharu says she’s the “drill princess”; which causes Selnia to correct him stating she’s Selnia Iori Flameheart. Selnia restates that losing to Tomomi is like losing who she is. Akiharu mentions Selnia’s response to Tomomi and asks if the reason they’re so heated is because they’re rivals. Tomomi comments that Akiharu is surprisingly observant in a strange area despite being dense most of the time. Tomomi mentions how her whole rivalry with Selnia started after their meeting. Tomomi was surprised to find someone who so much represented what an “oujosama” was and she felt frustrated with herself. She felt that she didn’t want to lose to that person, and Akiharu tells her that’s that same answer Selnia gave him.

The next event starts, and it’s a cavalry match. Akiharu and Sanae act as the horse for Selnia, and Akiharu tells a frustrated Selnia that this is the best choice since there isn’t anyone strong enough to carry a person other than Sanae. For the other teams the line is: Mitsuru and unknown playing the horse for Fou, Shingo and an unknown playing the horse for Toichiro, and Daichi and an unknown playing the horse for Tomomi. As soon as the event starts, most of the competitors collapse since most of the teams consist of weak girls and they aren’t able to support the weight of the rider. The few remaining teams start attacking, and Selnia’s team starts to go after them while Tomomi’s team stays to the side and waits for the remaining teams to take each other out. Eventually the only ones left on the field are Selnia and Tomomi’s team. Selnia goes on the offensive and aims for Tomomi’s headband. Tomomi seems to have the advantage based on her team’s ability to move accordingly, while Selnia’s team is a little sluggish with Sanae’s clumsiness becoming an issue.

In the finale of the battle a series of clumsy incidences causes Akiharu’s face to come in close contact with Daichi’s, which causes Daichi to panic and causes Tomomi to slip off. Selnia is also falling off too, but fortunately Akiharu catches her. This gives Selnia’s team the victory, since Tomomi’s team is disqualified since she touched the ground. It seems that Tomomi has gracefully accepted her defeat, and with that the winner of the Athletics Festival is the red team. After the victory, Akiharu compliments Selnia saying, “As expected of a drill”; which gets Selnia frustrated again, and commands Akiharu to address her, as “Selnia” from now on and she’ll refer to him as Akiharu. Later in the bath, Selnia and Tomomi have a brief chat about each other and tells the other that they’ll win the next match. As Tomomi leaves, Selnia asks her what it was she wanted and Tomomi replies she wanted the TryAqualand ticket that would allow her to go with Akiharu.

Later that evening Akiharu hands the TryAqualand ticket to Selnia for winning, but unexpectedly gives the other ticket to Tomomi. Akiharu explains that their fight moved him so that’s what he’s giving Tomomi his ticket. This understandably angers Selnia and Tomomi and the onlookers consisting of Daichi, Mitsuru, Shingo, Sanae, Saori, Pina, Mimina, Fou, Ayse, and Hedyeh agree that Akiharu is really the worst. Akiharu still has no idea what he’s done wrong, and Selnia and Tomomi come to a decision and slap Akiharu for his insensitivity. In the closing of the series, things continue as normal.

Opinions:

This was the last episode and it didn’t really give much, though I think we hit some strides with Selnia and Akiharu with the whole addressing each other by first name thing. It was a little disappointing to see things return to the status quo at the end, but I guess it’s to be expected if you can’t continue the story until the next season for the series. I did feel a little bad for Akiharu when he was fumbling at the end, but frankly if you still don’t get what’s going on at that point you deserved to get hit for being so dense. Overall the series was pretty okay. I personally don’t think I’d buy if it came out on DVD, though depending how a second season turns out that could change. I will however buy quite a bit of Ladies vs. Butlers! doujinshi, particularly ones with Mikan! After last episode, I’ve become a big Mikan fan! Maybe because she plays into the whole stereotypical seductive disciplinarian role that most youths seek in a sexy tutor………
