Street Fighter 4 ver. Lucky Star Figures

Finally got my birthday present from myself to myself (purchased on my birthday back in July).

Lovely isn't i?

I was pretty excited when this came in the mail a few days ago! The figures are about the size of the Lucky Star trading figures, but are sold as a complete set. We got Tsukasa as Ken, Kagami as Ryu, Konata as Guile (Ironic as I believe she defeated Guile when she met Tsukasa), and Miyuki as Viper. The details on the figures are pretty good; though I’ll admit that unless you live in Japan, you’re probably gonna overpay severely for these.  While I’m not proud of how much I spent on these; I am more than happy to have them. By the way I bought these while I was out of a job and purchased them on faith alone that I would get  a job in time for them to come. Low and behold since their arrival, I’ve been employed for a good month! Things really did work out! Happy Birthday to me!

Got Valkyria Chronicles II and while it’s good; I’m conflicted….

I got  my copy of Valkyria Chronicles II a few days ago, and I’m like 2 days (3 hours) in. It’s definitely better than I initially thought; they didn’t do anything too radical to the gameplay so it’s still the same gameplay I love essentially. The characters are well, it depends who you are if you like or hate them. I’m still waiting till I finish the game till I make my decision. The big thing on my mind though is the voice acting. I mean, it’s not bad or anything; it’s just as an anime fan of 10+ years, I just prefer my audio Japanese. I’ve been looking online to see if I can just hack Japanese audio onto my memory stick or something, and I’m seeing a few people say that people should just stop bitching over the the whole Japanese audio. I consider myself relatively tolerant of English dubbing; I did start off with it. But as the years have passed and I’ve listened to more Japanese audio I’ve developed more of a preference for Japanese audio to the point that I’m kind of obsessed on the issue now.

At first the English dubbing didn’t bother me, but now on day 4 and reading up on the Japanese Seiyuus in this game; I really want to hear the Japanese audio! I’m begging for some way to play the game with Japanese audio! Is there no solution for the anime fan that prefers his/her audio in Japanese and their written language English!?!?!? There’s little things you get out of Japanese audio. First of all there are some things (granted little things) that are lost in translation. The combination of Japanese audio and English subtitles help fill in those gaps. This post is getting a little too ranty than I intended so I’ll end here.   PS: If someone has a solution to getting Japanese audio onto my Valkyria Chronicles II game other than buying the Japanese ver. please share! So far all I got is petitioning Sega to release the audio as dlc.

To Aru Majutsu no Index Fighting Game

In the tradition of Fate/Stay Night fighting game; To Aru Majutsu no Index is also getting a 3D fighting game. It’s great and all, but personally I’ve always been more of a 2D person. That’s not to say I completely hate 3d (I did systems alone just to play Dead or Alive 3 and 4) but I just think the game would be better as a 2D fighter. That aside, this little article comes from Dengeki G’s Magazine’s October issue. From the screenshots it looks like playable characters will consist of Kanzaki Kaori, Misaka clones, Accelerator, Stiyl Magnus, Tsuchimikado Motoharu, Index, Kamijou Touma, and Misaka Mikoto. Seems like it has a tag team system, but I really can’t say as my Kanji level is extremely elementary still. (*sigh* I really  need to find a good online Japanese teaching site). In any case, the major draws to me for this game can be summed up in two words: Misaka Mikoto! There’s the Mikoto bathroom poster you see in the screens there with her in her swimsuit, and better yet, the Misaka Mikoto figma! Sadly from what little I can gather, the figma is going to be bundled up with the special edition of the game much like how the Lily Saber figma was bundled up in the last fate game. The good news for me is that I finally have a job again so it’s not that big of a deal! Plus fighting games are universal so the amount of Japanese you know is irrelevant. You just gotta communicate with you fists!

To Aru Majutsu no Index Season 2 peeks

Just got my October issue of Dengeki G’s magazine in, and I was really excited to see coverage on the upcoming new season of “To Aru Majutsu no Index”!!

Judging from some of the images we have coverage on Volume 7 of the light novels, and my personal favorite Volume 9 aka the sports festival story arc!

The only question that’s on my mind is whether a certain story that happens after the events of Sports Festival will make it to air during second season. From what I’m seeing though there’s 2 arcs shown in the image and from what I remember they cover 5-6 arcs last season, so it has to make it!! In the same issue there’s some coverage on the upcoming To Aru Majutsu no Index fighting game. I’ll go over that briefly a little later.

It’s late, but here’s some photos from AX 2010……..

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and about 2 months since AX, but since I already had the pictures I figured I would post them up. All I can say is that I’ve been busy looking for a job, finally getting a job, and recently learning how to do my new job. So now that I finally have free time again, here’s some posts!

First of all, here’s a photo of Minami Kuribayashi; I was there for a few of her concerts in the Exhibitor’s Hall and it was awesome! Got her to sign one of the CDs I bought at the Mangagamer booth. She was really nice~!

Here’s a photo of Mell as I’m in line to get her autograph; PS great concert! Got a good seat and the speakers just synchronized with my brain in a wonderful and painful way!

Eri Kitamura at her panel. It was such a great panel! She acted out some lines from her various roles; my favorite part? When she did a Minorin impression! Continue reading ‘It’s late, but here’s some photos from AX 2010……..’
