Summary:

While showering, Ingrid is remembering when her friend died in combat protecting their underclassmen from a Nova.  Meanwhile Satellizer is being release from confinement by instructor Kim. Satellizer walks back to her room, but is stopped by 3rd year student, Ingrid Bernstein. Ingrid introduces herself as the Guardian of Discipline, and tells Satellizer that she’ll punish anyone who disrupts the order of the school and cites Satellizer as an example. As she walks away she tells Satellizer that she’ll give her until tomorrow afternoon to find a Limiter. Since she said she’ll use everything she has to crush Satellizer, she’ll be bringing her Limiter as well and continues walking away. Unbeknownst to them, Kaho secretly hears them and rushes to tell Kazuya about it. Kazuya is with Arthur, who tells Kazuya that Ingrid is ranked 7th in the academy and far stronger than Miyabi. Kaho believes that “the Untouchable Queen” will come to ask Kazuya to be her Limiter. As Kaho and Arthur give Kazuya options on how to avoid Satellizer ‘till the time limit, Kazuya rushes out of the room and goes to Satellizer’s room.

Meanwhile Satellizer is taking a bath and remembers the disgusting feeling of being touched. At that time, Kazuya comes into Satellizer’s room and is about to look at her diary before he stops himself. Satellizer comes into the room, fresh out of the bath wearing only a towel and notices her diary out and rushes to it. As she grabs her diary, her towel drops and lets out a scream. Kazuya apologizes while Satellizer is wrapped in a blanket. Satellizer asks Kazuya why he’s in her room, and Kazuya tells her that he’s here to hear an answer to his proposal of being her Limiter. Satellizer tells him that she doesn’t need him, but Kazuya reminds her that she’s fighting against a 3rd year tomorrow. Satellizer tells him to leave, and while Kazuya walks out Satellizer seems to have decided on something. Satellizer visits Ingrid’s room that nite, stating that to defeat a Pandora without using a Limiter you need to strike when the enemy is separated from their Limiter.

In an explosive moment, Ingrid has Satellizer by her throat and corrects her. She did tell her that she would bring her limiter with her, but that doesn’t mean that she’s weaker than Satellizer who has no Limiter. Satellizer gets her to release her by kicking Ingrid I the face. Ingrid materializes her Volt Weapon, Divine Trust; which appears to be bladed tonfas. Their fight causes a huge ruckus and can heard throughout the academy. Ingrid is strong and Satellizer is taking considerable amounts of hits from Ingrid, who seems to be barely trying. Satellizer acknowledges that Ingrid’s speed and destructive power are on a completely different level than her own, and she decides to use Accel to try to close the gap in abilities. Satellizer uses Accel and starts encircling Ingrid at high speed with the wind force alone shattering glass. Satellizer goes in to attack, but Ingrid is able to block it with minimal movement and using on the smallest part of her weapon. Ingrid compliments Satellizer on her Accel Turn, but speculates she’s an “Only Accel” type and informs her “Accel is the most fundamental of the speed abilities and tells her that any 3rd year can use it. She reiterates that it’s useless against Pandoras who possess other high-end skills, and uses Tempest Turn, a speed move that produces after images of the user, against Satellizer. Satellizer tries to dodge by using Accel Turn, but is unable to and takes a brutal beating from Ingrid.

Ingrid’s Limiter Leo arrives on the scene after receiving a call from Atia, and Satellizer is clearly in a bad position. Despite this, Ingrid gives Satellizer one more chance to find a Limiter. As they’re in front of the 1st year male dorms, Ingrid asks if any 1st years are willing to become Satellizer’s Limiter.  It seems that no one is willing to and Ingrid gets ready to restart the fight, but Kazuya stops her and announces that he’ll be Satellizer’s Limiter. Ingrid remarks that she didn’t expect anyone to volunteer, but informs Kazuya that by becoming Satellizer’s Limiter he is also supporting her actions and thus drupting the Academy’s order. Kazuya tells her that he has no intention of disrupting the academy’s order; he just can’t leave Satellizer alone as she gets beaten. Kazuya asks Satellizer to batize him, but she refuses. Kazuya asks her if she hates him, but she tells him that she doesn’t like the baptizing process as it seems lewd to her, and she doesn’t like how it feels like her body is being licked all over and goes to say that she doesn’t like how baptisms, Ereinbar Set, and being touched feels. Kazuya asks if the Ereinbar Set was such a lewd thing, and Ingrid denies this while blushing and says that it may feel strange since the five senses of the Pandora and Limiter become linked.

Ingrid activates the Ereinbar set and has Leo activate Freezing, and Satellizer gets caught. As Ingrid goes in to finish off Satellizer, Kazuya activates his freezing and Ingrid backs off. Ingrid is surprised to see Kazuya use Freezing with having undergone a baptism. Ingrid starts to focus on attacking Kazuya since he’s a real threat, but Satellizer takes advantage Ingrid taking her eyes off of her and successfully attaks Ingrid. Ingrid asks why they’re intent on disrupting the order of the school and continues the fight with Satellizer. Kazuya wonders why Ingrid is so fixiated on discipline; Ganessa then enters the scene and explains to Kazuya that before “the Untouchable Queen” transferred to the academy, there was an incident during the middle of an off-campus Carnival for the 1st year students to finish up their training. In the middle of the Carnival, a type S Nova appeared and slaughtered some of the 1st years. Marin-senpai, who was Ingrid’s close friend, lost her life in that incident. Ganessa believes that Ingrid believes that Marin wouldn’t have died if the 1st years had listened to orders.

Leo activates Freezing on Satellizer again and pins her down, but Kazuya activates his Freezing and not only neutralizes Leo’s Freezing but is also able to cast Freezing on Ingrid. Ingrid comments that it shouldn’t be possible to activate an area-wide Freezing, and speculates that Kazuya has the same ability as Novas. Ingrid tells Leo to neutralize the Freezing and release her and warns him that Satellizer is coming. Satellizer takes out Leo with a kneed to the gut and immediately heads towards Ingrid right afterwards. Ingrid activates her Pandora mode and is slowly able to move while in Kazuya’s Freezing area.

Ingrid comments to herself that she isn’t wrong and believes that if the 1st years didn’t abandon Marin back then, she would still be alive. Ingrid screams that getting rid of the type of people who made Marin die in vain is her top priority and attacks Satellizer. As Ingrid gets ready to finish off Satellizer, Kazuya increases the strength of his Freezing and Ingrid is pinned down. Kazuya asks if she truly believes that Marin died in vain, but Ingrid asks him what would he know as he doesn’t know anything about Marin. Kazuya acknowledges he doesn’t know anything about Marin, but he believes that she died upholding her beliefs as a Pandora; since his sister was the same way. Satellizer informs her that Kazuya’s full name is Aoi Kazuya, and Ingrid realizes that Kazuya sister is Aoi Kazuha. Kazuya remembers the final words of protecting Kazuya and the important people of others, his sister told him and conveys that to Ingrid. Ganessa agrees and explains Marin’s actions back then. Marin had all the 1st years retreat because the 1st years weren’t strong enough to take on the Nova as they didn’t have Limiters. Marin told Ganessa that the least she can do is buy time for the 1st years to run away. Ganessa believes that Marin was using herself as a shield to protect as many underclassmen as possible. Ingrid remembers in Marin’s last moments she asked if the 1st years were ok. Ingrid finally acknowledges that Marin didn’t die in vain and starts crying. Satellizer starts to walk away, but as she passes by Ganessa tells her that she didn’t say that for Satellizer’s benefit. Ganessa believed she should eventually tell Ingrid what happened.

As everyone else leaves, only Satellizer and Kazuya are left, and Kazuya thanks Satellizer for saving him once again and Satellizer looks away and blushes.

Opinions:

This episode covers chapters 5-9 of the manga. It’s nice that a lot of material was covered, but thre’s some things missing too. For example, we don’t get that scene where Yumi-sensei warns Satellizer ot stay away from Kazuya, and the story of Marin is a lot different. If I remember right, they were in the middle of a battle against a Nova rather than being in the middle of a Carnival. I can’t remember how long this series is, but if it’s 12 episodes it makes sense that they’re skipping details in order to cram more story into the first season. Something I remembered recently is that Pandora mode is actually armor, and I’m wondering why they decided to omit the armor. I’m gonna hope the reason is a lot better than “to give more fanservice”, because frankly the drawing style for the fanservice does nothing for me. Next episode introduces Lana Linchen, who will be voiced by Kana Hanazawa. When I first read the manga chapter with her intro, I imagined her being voiced by Ai Nonaka. I’m gonna close this post with asking if anyone recognizes the art style for this week’s ending pic. The style seems familiar to me, but I can’t figure out who it is.
