Summary:

Kazuya is visiting East Genetics with Sister Margarett due to the request of Cassie Lockharte, nicknamed the Godspeed of East. Cassie is East Genetics’ rank 1 and the inheritor of the Heroic Stigma that belonged to Aoi Kazuha, Kazuya’s sister. Cassie wanted to meet Kazuya since he’s the little brother of the person her Stigmas belonged to. Cassie informs Kazuya that she plans to retire because she wants to become a Novelist. Kazuya tells her that he looks forward to the day he’s able to read the novel she eventually writes. Kazuya heads back to West Genetics with sister Margarett later that day, and as Cassie sees them off her instructor Melina asks her if she’s sure about her decision to retire. In the plane, Sister Margarett is telling Kazuya that it’s a shame that Cassie is retiring; as Cassie’s talents rivaled Kazuya’s sister. In addition Cassie is a rare Pandora that has a 90% compatibility ratio with the Heroic Stigma. So far no other Pandora in any of the other Genetics around the globe has shown a compatibility ratio as high as hers.

Back with Cassie, Melina tells Cassie that she believe she was the only one capable of leading the Chevalier (an army of Pandoras it seems) and future Pandoras against the Novas, but Cassie tells her that she’s not qualified. Cassie reveals that she came to Genetics to help her father with his political image, and had her father not wanted her to come to Genetics then she wouldn’t even be here in the first place. Cassie states that she’s not refusing to fight the Novas, as she would fight for her friends and family even after graduation if a Nova appeared, but moving on to join the Chevalier and being chosen to lead Pandoras is frightening to her. Cassie tells Melina that she doesn’t possess a strong will and a steel heart that make for a strong Pandora. Cassie states that a certain someone made her aware that she was lacking that. Milena recognizes that Cassie is talking about Satellizer L. Bridget, and the incident was the one where Brooks Levin, a Limiter, was left injured beyond recovery. Cassie states that when she was fighting Satellizer she realized the difference between them. Even though Cassie was far superior in fighting ability, Satellizer never yielded and kept getting up. That’s when Cassie realized that the reason why they fight, and burden they’re carrying are completely different.

Back with Kazuya, he asks Sister Margarett if there’s anyone other than Cassie that’s inherited his sister’s Stigma. Sister Margarett informs her Satellizer has 6, but her compatibility ratio didn’t even reach 5%.  Kazuya begins to wonder if the reason Satella seemed like his sister was because of the Heroic Stigma inside her. Sister Margarett changes the subject, and brings up how Kazuya volunteered to be Satella’s Limiter. She brings up the incident in East Genetics and reveals that the injured person has admitted he was at fault for pressuring Satella, but if Cassie weren’t there then he wouldn’t have gotten away with just severe injuries.

When they land back in West Genetics, they are informed of a dimensional disturbance by Yumi-sensei; which means a Nova is about to appear in East Genetics. All the Pandoras in East Genetics prepare for battle, and in the command room they are shocked to see that 4 Type-S Novas have appeared. Back in West Genetics Arthur and Kaho are talking to Kazuya about the Nova appearance and speculate about going into action. Kaho states that it’ll be unlikely for them to participate, but Arthur tells her they don’t know that since to compensate for East Genetics’ lack of manpower Pandoras outside of the Chevalier are being asked to mobilize. Back in East Genetics, the Pandoras have mobilized and are fighting against the Novas. They’re acting on one Nova and mobilize into 3 groups, distracters, strikers, and the finisher. The distracters distract the nova, the striker exposes the Nova’s core, and the finisher takes out the core. Cassie is the striker in this particular group, and unfortunately this Nova is able to keep up with Cassie’s Quadruple Accel. The Pandoras try to regroup, but the Nova emits a beam from its core and takes out the platoon of Pandoras.

Back in West Genetics the mood is heavy since everyone’s thinking about what’s happening in East Genetics. Even Satella is concerned about it and is more irritable than usual. Rana asks her what’s going on, but Satella walks past her and brushes her off. Chiffon tells Rana that Satella is just frustrated that there’s nothing she can do during this state of emergency. Rana asks what she means, and Chiffon asks her if she’s unaware of what’s happening right now, and Rana replies yes.

Satella looks for Kazuya and overhears a conversation with him, Arthur, and Kaho. Arthur asks Kazuya if he still isn’t baptized, but he doesn’t need the Ereinbar Set, so he can pair up with anyone. Kazuya states he’ll fight with Satella, and says that she’s special. He tells them that Satella about how he saw his sister in Satella when he first came to West Genetics, and he realizes that because she has the Stigma from his sister. Satella hears this and runs away. Meanwhile in East Genetics the Nova is fusing with all the Pandoras in Cassie’s platoon using their Stigma to do so. Back with Satella, she starts breaking down and cries as she recalls what she heard.

Opinions:

It seems they’re going for an original ending, at least for the first season. I’m a little disappointed, it seems like they’re going for the misunderstand and make-up route with Satella getting upset over hearing that Kazuya paired with her because she reminds him of his sister. I’m sure it’s a shock to her pride as a girl, but something about it just seems too cheesy. Maybe it’s because there’s more interesting things going on, where we don’t need this gimmick; like the war going on with the Novas currently for example. In any case, the series seems like it’ll wrap up in the next few episode and I’m hoping for fighting scenes that are at least half as good as they were in the manga for this arc. Before I forget the pic of the week is of Sister Margarett, I don’t know what to say except she looks lots younger than they make her look in the anime and it’s got me confused in all sorts of ways. Till next week!
