Summary:

The first half of the episode consists of showing how Elcea is being integrated into Keima’s life as his “little sister”. At school, everyone is fussing over her and are surprised that she’s Keima’s sister. At Keima’s home (which is also a café managed by his mother) Elcea introduces herself to Keima’s mother as her husband’s illegitimate child. This understandably pisses Keima’s mom off, and she proceeds to call her husband and chew him out on the phone. Her violent behavior scares Elcea, but Keima informs her that it’s normal as his mother used to be the leader of a bike gang.

Elcea tries fit into her role as Keima’s little sister, but Keima flat out refuses to acknowledge Elcea as she’s lacking the 3 things a “little sister” character must have: a Blood relation, Memory (family memories gained over time), and Moe.  Elcea tries to fulfill some of the conditions by biting Keima’s finger so that some of his blood will be inside her. Back at home, Elcea cooks some Hellian cooking for Keima and forces him to eat it. The effects of the cooking cause Keima to go to the bathroom.

That night while Keima’s in the bath, Elcea intrudes so she can wash Keima’s back. As Keima tries to kick her out and calls her a fake “little sister”, Elcea tells Keima that she’s a real little sister. Elcea has an older sister in hell who is a high achiever. Compared to her, Elcea felt inferior as all she’s done is sweeping. That’s why she’s so happy to be part of the Run Away Spirts Squad, since she has the opportunity to do demon’s work now.

In the second half we have our next capture target, Mio Aoyama. A rich girl, from a a prestigious family; we are introduced to her when she waltzes to the bread shop on campus and buys 10,000yen worth of omelet yakisoba bread. Elcea’s spirit radar goes off, and Keima decides to practice confessing. Later that day, Keima confesses to Mio. Mio flat-out rejects him and has her butler subdue Keima. As she leaves, Keima and Elcea tail them back to a run-down apartment building.

Opinions:

Another faithful episode that closely follows the manga, but I believe the news that Elcea has an older sister isn’t in the manga. Though I like the fact that they added it in as it gives Elcea’s character more depth. In any case, I’m happy with how the anime is handling the series. I especially love how the preview images are galge style. I kinda like the ending theme too.

“Koi no Shirushi”

The images are great with the whole painting thing and it has the “heroines” of the series in it, well the first four anyway, plus Elcea. It also shows an interested painted picture of Keima at the end, and the song itself is sweet; though it’s kinda stereotypical for an anime. I enjoyed though all the same.
