Kannagi Fansite Update: We Can Finally Get a Membership card!

The membership card design

The membership card design

After hearing about the whole membership card thing that the Japanese fans got, we North Americans finally get one too!…………but it’s a print-out version. Though if you print it out in color and laminate it, it’ll look really nice. When I printed mine out I was the 1834th member. So hopefully we can print this out and it’ll come with some perks later on!

Kannagi’s Official Fansite’s Latest Announcement is American Distribution as Expected

kannagi_vol1_3d

Well the latest announcement on Kannagi’s official fansite came after 2 weeks of waiting. As expected, the announcement was that Kannagi was now licensed in North America and will be distributed by Bandai Entertainment. The entire series will be released in 2 volumes, and if you order both volumes from Amazon or Right Stuff you’ll get a Kannagi T-Shirt. In addition, the first 7 episodes of the series will be streamed on Animenewsnetwork, and the remainder of the series will be released around the time of release of the 2nd volume. This was a predictable announcement and I’m happy to be getting a Kannagi shirt with my DVD, but I’m still hoping for a membership card. It may seem like a small thing, but the sentimental value of a membership card for a club is nostalgic and has great sentimental value (or so I believe). Maybe if a lot of people order a DVD that’ll happen…………

Lucky Star’s Macross Frontier Cosplay Figures!!!

Macross-F-Lucky-Star-Style

Can’t believe I missed seeing this the first look through! I found this in my July 2009 issue of Comptiq! So apparently they’re going to be coming out with Lucky Star figures that are cosplaying as Macross Frontier characters! I believe the casting is done quite well; we got Miyuki dressed as Sheryl (lol), Kagami as Klan (makes total sense), Konata as Alto (I suppose the look suits her), and Tsukasa as Ranka (a good fit, no other character could be her). Also, while there isn’t a picture, it seems there will also be a VF-25 Messiah Valkyrie (Lucky Star ver.) figure release as well! Can’t wait to see what that is like. I feel like the Kagami/Klan and the Miyuki/Sheryl are a must-have. No idea when these come out, but damn if I’m not excited for them.

Hanamaru Yōchien trailer (as recorded from the Gainax panel)

Here’s the trailer I said I’d put up. This was the “special treat” we were given at the Gainax panel. It’s low quality and people are talking, but till the better version is out, please make do.

AX 2009 Day 3 Report (Small Victory for Hentai Gamers)

Ok, things I did today: Went to the Nightow/Nishimura panel and saw the Trigun Movie trailer (also learned Nightow got the inspiration to create Trigun from the fusion of Star Wars and John Woo films). After wards I went to get my BlazBlue preorder artbook signed by Ishiwatari and Mori.

After that I went to the Future of Bishoujo Gaming panel and was dumbfounded at the hundreds of hentais in line to get into the panel (must admit I was a little mad because I assumed the majority had no idea what the panel was for, but while there were a few the majority were hard-core hentais!). We were greeted with the great news that mangagamer.com is going to release the first 2 chapters of the Higurashi games, some Navel Games (first Shuffle!), and from how the conversation went I assume we can expect more in the future (crossing fingers for Koi+Hime); we also got informed that Da Capo 2 will be release in the future! Bless you people who went out of your way on the net and bought a game from mangagamers! In these troubled times for hentai, this was a small victory for us North American gamers! So let’s continue to support mangagamers so they can start selling us some limited edition packages! On that note, apparently there’re some buy 1 get one free coupons for mangagamers if you buy at their booth. If I get any extra codes I’ll post them. I’ll put the details of today as well as the previous days in a wrap-up post.

AX 2009 Day 2 Report

Hey, ok I took a few pictures today! Went to the Daisuke Ishiwatari and Toshimichi Mori panel, masterminds behind Guilty Gear and BlazBlue respectively; it was mostly Q&A the highlight of the panel being when someone asked Ishiwatari to shout out a Sol Bad Guy line since he’s the voice. I managed to record the whole thing and will have it up soon. There was an autograph session, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it in time before they stopped; I’ll just try again tomorrow. Other than that there wasn’t much I did except go to the Morning Musume concert. It was amazing; they really went all out for their concert and I was surprised to see a packed house since I made the wrong assumption that not many people would know of them, but both their panel and concerts were full houses. Unfortunately we weren’t allow to bring in any recording equipment, so I couldn’t take any pictures. Believe me though, it was something, and the winners of the music video competition had good videos. I think you can check them out on the Morning Musume MySpace page. The drawn video in particular is insane. I’ll post up the pictures in one lump sum after AX.

First Day of AX 2009 Report

Ok, first day of AX! For starters, I’m sorry but I forgot to take my camera with me. Fortunately, I borrowed a friends and managed to get a few nice pics and videos which will be up later. Of note, I went to the Gainax panel and got to see a trailer for Hanamaru Yōchien and if all goes well I’ll have a youtube of it up over the weekend. Other news is Circus is here!! In these troubled times for ero-games, it was a great surprise to see mangagamer at AX. Furthermore!! They brought the artists of Da Capo and Edelweiss with them! They’re doing some sketches for $20, and they have some signed Da Capo II posters of Otome for $5. Quite a deal right?I’ll post up a the pictures later, and those going to AX I’ll hope you’ll come to the Future of Bishoujo Gaming panel where they’ll hopefully address the unfortunate situation of ero-games due to some feminist protest and hopefully have a plan to save the indrustry from the disturbing trend of fetish bands.
