Summary:

Yui starts to reminisce about her time as a cadet in the Imperial Army. When she comes too she’s surrounded by BETAs and she apologizes to everyone and her father for not being able to carry out her mission. Yuuya suddenly appears and picks off all of the BETAs in the Hanger and saves Yui. He gives her some quick first aid as Stella keeps guard from a distant outside. After Yuuya finishes tending to Yui he informs her that they’ll be evacuating now, but before that Yui insists on self-destructing the Radiation Canon first. Meanwhile, Stell is noticing that a ridiculous amount of BETAs are heading for the hanger Yui and Yuuya are in.

Opinions:
So Yuuya comes in at the last minute to save Yui! More than anything I’m curious as to why the BETAs are headed to Yui and Yuuya’s area. It has to do with the Radiation Canon, but what kind of secret does the Radiation Canon have? Or could the reason be something else? That aside, Yui was being really dere this episode. Particularly where she calls for Yuuya when she collapses on the floor in the hangar. I’m hoping to see more of that next episode!

Sumamry:

With the BETAs invading the base, there’s a mass evacuation. During the evacuation notice, Yui and Ibrahim figure out that everything has been planned out by the USSR so that they would have to evacuate and leave the Radiation Canon behind when they evacuate; which would leave it vulnerable to being stolen by the USSR government. That being the case, Yui frantically travels to the hanger where the Radiation Canon sits in order to activate its self-destruct sequence.

Opinions:

Okay, so things are heating up with some sneaky strategies by the USSR. That’s a pretty crazy tactic they came up with, using their own base as a sacrifice in order to pick off the abandoned new weapons of other countries. It’s kind of a gambit in way since if the other countries decided not to test their best stuff then the sacrifice would be for naught not to mention that the BETA attack could’ve come sooner. In any case it seems like the big question this time is if Yui will be able to activate the self-destruct sequence or if she (along with the Radiation Canon) will be saved. Let’s face it, Yui’s a main heroine so she’s not going to die any time soon.

Summary:

After Yuuya’s performance in the last battle, he’s being hailed as a hero; though Yuuya doesn’t seem to see it that way and it doesn’t help that the USSR pilots patronize him on the matter. Yuuya is determined to prove his worth so he requests that the next test for the Shiranui be melee combat, but Yui is a little hesitant to do so. After some unforseen events, Yui decides that she’ll take the Shiranui into combat for melee testing. Yuuya is obviously upset about this, but after Heinemann persuades Yui to let Yuuya pilot. Afterwards as Yui walks out after Yuuya and the team deploy, the ground shakes. Yui realizes that the BETAS are attacking via underground.

Opinions:

There were a few things that were odd this week (though it’ll probably come into play in future episodes) such as Yui not wanting Yuuya to pilot in this battle and the insistence that it be Yuuya that pilots. At first I thought it was Yui being overprotective of Yuuya, but there definitely seems to more to it. The episode really ended on a cliffhanger and I’m really looking forward to the next episode!

Summary:

Yuuya debuts in his first battle against the BETAs and is mocked by the USSR pilots for his nervousness. Yuuya’s teammates try to calm him down, but it doesn’t seem to help. As it looks like the BETAs are about to completely wipe out the tank platoons, Yuuya calls for the Zhar Platoon to assist the tanks’ retreat but they seem to wait for orders to do so. Yuuya gets impatient and immedietely begs the commander of the Zhar Platoon to retreat so he can use the Radiation Canon to add their retreat. After some pleading, the commander obliges Yuuya’s request and upon the are being clear Yuuya fires the canon and completely decimates the BETAs in one shot; showing off the destructive power of the Radiation Canon.

Opinions:

Wow, I didn’t think Yuuya would be the type to get nervous when first confronting the enemy, but I guess it makes sense when it’s the first time you’re in an actual battle where you will kill and possibly be killed. I was interested when they showed Cryska fighting back against the USSR pilots that were bullying her and Inia the previous episode. The reason being that Cryska doesn’t seem to remember the event and her demeanor is  obviously different from before; which leads to believe that Cryska may suffer from some kind of multiple personality disorder. Other than that, it looks like as each episode passes Yui’s feelings for Yuuya become more apparent. Looking forward to more development!

Summary:

The team heads to Milkovsky in the USSR to test out the new Radiation Canon. Yuuya will be testing out the new canon in live combat in his first battle against the BETAs. Yui shows Yuuya the new canon shows some concern for him since it’ll be his first time in actual combat; though he tells her he’ll show her that he’ll be able to take care of himself and the new weapon. The USSR soldiers seem to have some grudge against test pilots and hassle Inia and Cryska until Yuuya comes along and defends them. The next day the mission briefing starts and the commander of the USSR ZHAR platoon pilots already has no expectations of the test pilots and tells them not to get in the way of her men.

Opinions:

Man, those USSR pilots really got on my nerves; though I’m unsure if it’s because they’re essentially kids or how they were messing with Inia and Cryska. I mean, the stuff they mention like hanging previous test pilots on the fence after having their way with them is super harsh considering these people are essentially on the same team as you. You can really hear the jealousy they have for test pilots because they feel it’s a safer job. But is that really the case? I mean with prototypes, the odds of accidents occurring and being injured or killed still exists doesn’t it? Arguably a solider’s job is tougher, but I feel that testers put up with enough risk for them to deserve some degree of respect. Am I alone in this opinion? Well other than that, this episode marks Yui coming out of her tsundere shell and actually voicing her concern about Yuuya’s welfare to his face. It looks like their relationship is steadily getting closer!

Summary:

At the Hoshino Academy Culture Festival Ueno and Oka are about to head into a maid café run by the students, but Ueno needs to use the bathroom so Oka goes in first. When Ueno goes into the café, he’s surprised to see Oka wearing the maid uniform.;Apparently the feature of this particular café is that the customers can wear the maid uniforms. Oka draws a lot of attention, and Ueno gets pretty jealous of all the guys asking to take Oka’s picture. While walking around, Oka notices Akira walking around with a girl that’s not Urabe (Hayakawa). Oka follows them to an unused classroom, and inside Hayakawa once again asks Akira to taste her drool, Akira almost does, but is a person in a robot costume blindfolds him from behind. The robot turns out to be Urabe, and she is naked underneath the robot suit and she cuts herself out with her scissors. She and Hayakawa proceed to test their bond with Akira with their drool. Urabe goes first and after Akira tastes her drool, his nose bleeds. Akira is immediately able to guess that Urabe is naked due to the intense feelings he’s experiencing. Despite witnessing their strong bond, Hayakawa still insists on testing her bond with Akira. But as she sticks her finger out to Akira to taste her drool, Hayakawa starts to cry. Urabe informs her that she should understand her bond with Akira even without having him taste her droo; since if she really like Akira she wouldn’t be crying. Akira agrees with Urabe and tells her she’s just insecure since she got dumped.

Hayakawa slowly accepts what he’s saying, and tells him that every love she has experienced had been one-sided. Akira tells her someday she’ll find a love that is mutual. Hayakawa still starts crying asking Akira if he really doesn’t feel anything for her anymore. Urabe takes Hayakawa and tastes her drool and tells her that her drool was the sweetest drool she’s ever tasted, and as such her love was the real thing. Akira starts thinking about Hayakawa’s drool and his blindfold gradually comes off, and Oka points this out to Hayakawa and Urabe; who both proceed to slap him with enough force to knock him out.

As Urabe and Akira walk home from the festival, Akira apologizes to Urabe.  Urabe tells him it’s ok since Hayakawa was his middle school crush, and adds that there was a boy she liked back in middle school and if he said he wanted to see her she would go see him without telling Akira. Urage then tells Akira that she was lying and tells him if her lie hurt him even a little bit, he needs to remember to be honest with her. Akira then confirms with her that her story just now was a lie. Urabe confirms and tells him the first time they kiss will be her first kiss. Urabe then tastes Akira’s drool and flashes a smile. Urabe then tells him that her smile is only a reflection of Akira feels and tells him that he really is a boy and runs off.

Opinions:

Man, Hayakawa is sneaky. Masterminding that little scheme to try to break up Urabe and Akira…..but it’s not like I’m completely unsympathetic. I understand the pain of having an unrequited love, and I can understand how having someone tell you how great you are can help you cope, but still what Hayakawa did was a little over the top and needlessly complicated that borders on a soap opera villain. Well I’m fairly certain this is the last we’ll see of her, and I’m not quite sure how to feel about that…….anyways, props to Urabe for being a standup girlfriend! She wasn’t too hard on Akira for lying to her, and she wasn’t too forgiving either. She basically just told Akira, that they’re suppose to be honest with each other. Not to mention all that Urabe sexiness with her all calm, naked, and sitting on that desk all seductive like! Akira really did have it good this episode, he got to glimpse the sight of two naked gals, and that’s partially the plot of the next episode! Well, it’s actually more about seeing a naked Urabe…..

Summary:

After buying Imai Momoka’s new photo collection one day, Akira runs into Hayakawa. Akira has a hard time noticing that it’s Hayakawa at first because she cut her hair. The two walk to a park and talk.  At the park Hayakawa reveals that she knew that Akira had a crush on her during middle school. She also reveals that she just got dumped; which is why she cut her hair. Eventually she figures out that Akira is dating a girl; because he didn’t recognize her with her hair cut; before he would have since he was always looking at her. Akira tries to comfort her for her breakup, but eventually loses it when she asks if they can continue to talk to each other from time to time, and Akira jokingly replies only if he can taste her drool. Hayakawa takes the comment seriously and sticks her finger in her mouth and offers Akira her drool. Akira nearly tastes it, but comes to his senses when he remembers Urabe’s voice in his head telling him that drool is their bond.  After this Hayakawa asks Akira the name of the girl he’s going out with and Akira tells her he’s going out with Urabe Mikoto.

As evening comes, Urabe is walking home and Hayakawa runs into her. She hands Urabe a flyer to her school’s, Hoshino Academy’s, cultural festival and invites Urabe to come on Sunday and tells her that Akira will be coming. That night, Hayakawa calls Akira out to talk. There’s a bruise on Hayakawa’s left temple, and Hayakawa explains that her ex-boyfriend wanted to get back together, but when she refused he got a little violent. That’s why she wanted to talk to Akira, to see if he’d come to her school’s culture festival to protect her. Akira is a little hesitant, but agrees to go. Later at a park, Hayakawa wipes off the bruise on her face; revealing that it was just make-up.

The next day after school, Urabe asks Akira what he’s doing on Sunday and Akira tells her he’s shopping with Ueno. The next day Oka shows Urabe a flyer for Hoshino Academy’s culture festival and tells her that Ueno is taking her on Sunday. This surprises Urabe since Akira told her that he’s going shopping with Ueno Sunday.

On the day of the culture festival, Akira arrives at the culture festival and meets with Hayakawa. For the culture festival, all the students are dressed up and Hayakawa is dressed up in her old middle school uniform and wearing a wig so she looks exactly the same as she did in middle school. Hayakawa grabs Akira’s arm and drags him into the school.

Opinions:

Wow. Hayakawa is surprisingly devious, or maybe it’s too be suspected? It’s usually who you expect or the person you least expect right? I’m pretty sure doesn’t even really like Akira, but she’s definitely lonely. So for something like that, she’s willing to setup an elaborate scenario to try to get Akira and Urabe to break up? We’ll see how her plan goes next episode. For the record, I don’t hate Hayakawa but after this episode I do think she’s kinda crazy.
