After mixing up her words and saying Arigaron to Keima (instead of Arigato) Shiori gets embarrassed and starts procrastinating and gets up and leaves. As she leaves, Keima tells her that books really aren’t necessary, and should be digitized. This gets her to stop and she starts getting irritated and thinks about the wonders of books, but stops herself from speaking by thinking that Keima is entitled to his opinion. This gets her resume leaving without saying a word. Keima continues his speech by saying books can be disposed of after they’ve been scanned, and this gets Shiori to come back and she calls him an idiot in a soft yet loud voice. Shiori realizes what she’s done and gets embarrassed and walks away. Elcea scolds Keima for being rude to Shiori since she feels he’s pushing her away. Keima corrects her and tells her that he hear Shiori’s inner voice by getting her angry.

Shiori is back at her desk and scolds herself for calling Keima an idiot and not being able to thank him for helping her earlier. Shiori remembers how she’s always had a tough time communicating with people, and how she’s always gave people the wrong impression by not being able to speak to them. Shiori expresses her love for books as she feels free when she’s reading and feels unrestricted and feels everything she needs to know is in a book, and that she can live her life in a world of books. As Shiori thinks this, Keima comments that he can clearly hear her inner voice.

The next day after school, the library committee has a meeting regarding the addition of a media room to the library, with Keima and Elcea a few tables away from the committee. Everyone is excited about this, but Shiori is bothered by it and stands up to express her opinion, but is unable to speak and gets misunderstood. The meeting ends like that, and Elcea comments to Keima that Shiori needs to speak up more, but Keima tells her it’s fine that she’s quiet if she has nothing to say. Shiori walks by Elcea and Keima while thinking humans should’ve developed telepathy. As Shiori walks by, she notices Keima writing in a book, and immediately confiscates it. Shiori looks at Keima and scolds him in her mind, but doesn’t express her feelings to Keima. Shiori looks at what Keima wrote, and Keima tells her that he updated the information in the book since it was wrong. Keima defends his actions by saying that there’s no point in looking for information in a book if it’s wrong. Shiori understands his reason, but still feels Keima shouldn’t write in books. Keima upsets Shiori again when he calls books obsolete since you can’t update their information, and Shiori once again quietly screams at Keima and calls him a moron. Elcea questions Keima for getting Shiori mad again, but Keima tells her it’s important to do so in order to see any changes in her.

The next day, Shiori spots Keima writing in a book again, and walks over to him ready to finally scold him. She takes the book, but as she telling him not to write in library books, Keima tells her that the book is his and not a library book. Shiori gets flustered as she was finally able to gather the courage to speak up. Shiori tells Keima that he’s not allowed in the library and tells him that when the Media room opens up, the library will be filled with people like him. Keima tells her that her inner voice and outer voice have switched, and Shiori gets all embarrassed as she realizes this and quickly leaves.

The next day, Shiori spots Keima in the library again and comments that she banned him yesterday and says that he’s going to torment her again. Keima comments to her that she’s speaking out loud normally now, and Shiori gets embarrassed as she realizes this. Keima comments that the library is nice and quiet. Shiori sits down next to Keima and agrees with him. Keima introduces himself to Shiori, and she does the same. Shiori gets embarrassed and gets up and leaves. Back at her desk, Shiori regrets telling Keima her name, but realizes that she was able to communicate with Keima. Keima and Elcea are walking through the library, and Elcea comments that Keima and Shiori are getting along well, but Keima is thinking of the final piece in the puzzle as he feels something is missing. They come across Shiori’s desk and see her rip up a flyer. Elcea uses her Hagoromo to put the ripped up pieces back together. The flyer is for a notice to dispose of books to prepare for the new media room and Keima tells Elcea that he can see the ending.

Opinions:

Man, Shiori was so cute this episode! In part thanks to  Hanazawa Kana voicing her. From meekly screaming “Aho” to “Arigaron” it was all just too cute for words! The episode itself was good, but I was hoping for more content to be covered. I felt more time went to Shiroi’s fantasy book scenes than was necessary. Don’t get me wrong, they’re important scenes that set up later events, but I really wanted to get though this arc a little faster. Well, next episode should close this arc, and the picture of the week is a lovely piece with Elcea, Shiori and Keima. I just wish I knew who the author is! Still haven’t gotten that far yet in my study of kanji….
