Summary:

One day in the Katsuragi household, Keima tells Elcea that he hasn’t played enough games and is at his limit. Elcea tells him that he plays games at home and at school, but Keima yells that it’s no where near enough; he continues saying that newly released games are stockpiling in his room. Keima tells Elcea that games are food for him and he hasn’t had enough. Keima declares that he will now enter “Capturing God” mode and rushes to his room to start playing games. Elcea follows him to his room, and after prying the door open with her Hagoromo, she sees Keima playing six galges at once in his room with an impressive gamer setup. Keima starts playing the games and his hands move so fast that the after-images make it seem as if he a lot of arms. Elcea is surprised to see that Keima can that many games and still clearly understand and sympathize with the plot of each game. Keima comments that he was under time restrictions the first time he played 2 games simultaneously; Keima wasn’t sure if he could pull it off at the time, but he managed to do it. Shortly after, he was able to play three, then four, and he can now play 6 games simultaneously. Eventually Keima achieves a kiss scene for each of the 6 games simultaneously, and remarks that kissing in games is the best and starts laughing. Elcea then leaves the room and comments that it’s been a while since she found Keima creepy.

Elcea returns to the living room, and asks Keima’s mom if he’ll be fine without food and Keima’s mom replies that games are like food for him. Back in Keima’s room, he clears 5 games and checks his site. Keima’s hands get shaky and he drops his PFP; Keima comments that his mind, stamina and concentration are severely consumed during “Capturing God” mode. 1 hour in this mode feels like it shortens his life by 3 years, but Keima resolves to continue playing at this pace and remarks that his path is paved in blood. Keima’s PFP tells him he has mail. Keima checks his e-mail and some asks him if he’s played Princess Derby yet, and asks for his advice. Keima plays Princess Derby, and after finishing it once, Keima decides to play all of previous generation versions since it was more fun than he remembered. Once again Keima plays 6 games at once, but this time it’s all Princess Derby. The consoles all break from overheating. Once of the consoles is still intact due to it still loading, so Keima wasn’t using it at the time.

Keima takes a pose and starts daydreaming and goes to his “world” where his “heroine” is. Keima gets up and continues playing. Keima plays until his body is too worn out to play anymore. Elcea comes in to tell him to stop, but Keima still wants to play more games. Elcea asks him if he’s lonely since other boys his age are out doing things, while he’s in a dark room playing games. Keima tells her not to misunderstand, since he feels he’s experiencing his youth fully since he loves games so much he can’t help it. Keima continues playing. Keima eventually gets so exhausted that everything looks buggy, and he hallucinates his games’ heroines taking him to the game world.

Opinions:

This episode covers chapter 6 of the manga. It’s pretty much the chapter exactly with filler footage of Keima playing galges. It’s well done with how you see Keima delve into his games in a way where you can understand why considers games a separate world entirely. I particularly liked Keima’s gaming “techniques” a la Arcade Gamer Fubuki. I think it makes a little sense that they chose to air this episode as the ending rather than its chronological order as this makes a better ending than if they just end the season with the end of a capture arc. I especially liked the ending with Keima in his “game” world and singing; it was pretty amusing. I am a little bit disappointed that they didn’t show Haqua, but the sneak peak of her at the ends reallly makes me look forward to next season of KamiNomi, and I think Saori Hayami seems to work as her voice. On closing on the first season of the series, I want to say 2 things, first I’ll miss the galge style ending eyecatches, and I’m in withdrawl from not getting enough of the current arc of the KamiNomi manga! It’s not coming out fast enough, and I really need to see what happens next!

PS: I need a poster of that Haqua pic at the end, there’s just something about it that makes you want to hang it in you room…..
