Summary:

Keima is going through his games one day and decides to play a game he bought because it was on sale, One Leaf; though he already believes the game is bad based on the art style. After starting the game, Keima is immediately drawn in by the story and the heroine, Yokkyun. Keima plays the game nonstop at school and home. Haqua comes to visit and asks Elcea what kind of game Keima is playing. Elcea sketches out a picture of the heroine of the game for Haqua, but Haqua just thinks that Elcea isn’t good at drawing. After seeing for herself, Haqua is surprised to see that someone used such lousy artwork for a game. This gets Keima pissed, and hey yells at Haqua and Elcea to not make fun of Yokkyun.

Keima receives an e-mail from the game company behind One Leaf, B’s Ware to give them some input for creating an ideal Galge. At first Keima is skeptical at first, but can’t stop thinking about the idea of creating his ideal galge. As Keima starts thinking about what makes the ideal galge, he gets into an argument with himself over what makes the perfect galge. One side supports a profound and deep story, while another side prefers to concentrate on genre. Keima’s sthoughts take him deep into the night and Elcea notices him looking out the window and wonders what could have happened to give Keima such a sad face. Keima’s still at war with himself in his head, until he realizes that no matter what differences there are in his head, every aspect of himself loves Yokkyun. This leads Keima to e-mail the game creator with an e-mail that just says “please make a good game”. The next day the 2nd semester starts.

Opinions:

This episode covers chapters 75 of the manga. The first half was filler, but it was filler that was used as a setup for the 2nd half of the episode. It was nice to see how Keima first met “Yokkyun”, and how even god judged a book by its cover initially. Loved all the Key references and how the logo for One Leaf looks like the logo for Air. This episode was perfect, it had everything, including Gundam references! We even got to see a glimpse of the captures for next season. We didn’t get to hear some of the girls but we got to see and hear Yokkyun and that’s good enough. Since Yokkyun is based on Ayu from Kanon I thought that they would get Yui Horie to voice her. I was pleasantly surprised that they got Sakura Tange to voice her. I haven’t heard her voice in years! I think the last thing I saw her in was Cardcaptor Sakura.  The ending for this season was pretty good since they had Keima walking home in a fashion that was the same as in the opening for 1st season with Keima wondering if just like how he misjudged One Leaf, if he’s misjudged reality and just hasn’t found something yet to excite him. What makes it more interesting is that the anime uses that line and alludes to future capture targets. That’s all for this season of KamiNomi, but I’m excited for the next season where we’ll see Tsukiyo, Sumire, Reiko, Minami, and Teri! Can’t wait!
